NSEV Healing and Acupuncture is a philosophy of health, and a method of treating and preventing disease, that integrates the mind, body and spirit.  It is a holistic, modern adaptation of an ancient Chinese medicine and acupuncture healing system that addresses a person’s symptoms AND their essential life affirming functioning. NSEV practitioners work with a broad spectrum of illness (physical and emotional) and alleviate pain and imbalance by harmonizing the extraordinary vessels. To do so they use a variety of techniques including acupuncture (with and without needles), moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, sound healing, herbal elixirs, and a variety of breath and movement exercises. The extraordinary vessels are  the  primordial fields and pathways that allow optimum wellness and promote healthy relationships with ourselves and with the world.

Hosted by:

Daniel J. Atchison-Nevel has been an innovator in the fields of holistic health and acupuncture since 1982. That year, he and his wife Jane Atchison-Nevel co-founded one of the country's first comprehensive collaborative health centers, the South Florida Healing Arts Center in Miami Beach, Florida.

For the last three decades, Dan has specialized in the utilization of acupuncture's extraordinary vessels, for healthcare, wellness and personal cultivation. He has taught these practices to thousands of partitioners throughout the world. Dan and colleagues have explored the shared group acupuncture experience. Using only four needles on groups have explored both the individual and collective experience of an extraordinary vessel group acupuncture session.

In 2009 Dan founded and co-chaired Acufest: A Festival of Healthy Living, an innovative, community wellness celebration held at the iconic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. The inaugural event was attended by more than a thousand people and brought together every Florida acupuncture college, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and local and national educators to present dozens of exhibits, interactive workshops, organic food and wine tasting, and the world's largest shared acupuncture experience.

Daniel currently serves as Clinical Director of the NSEV Healing & Acupuncture Clinic in his hometown of Miami Beach, Florida. The very busy clinic sees locals from Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties and visitors from throughout the world with a wide variety of conditions.

In 2020 Dan founded the NSEV Healing Academy. The academy offers online classes and experiences exploring personal cultivation, wellness, and healthcare with a global online community.

Doctor Maria Romero is a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine and an Acupuncture Physician licensed by the State of Florida. She is certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology by the NCCAOM (the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).

Her private practice, located in South Miami Beach, bases its work on the belief that medicine needs both the integration of cutting-edge modern knowledge with the wisdom of ancient healing modalities; and in the belief that the way to achieve total health and wellbeing is to adjust both to meet the diversity and uniqueness of individuals.

Maria graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine, the ISCAH, in Havana, Cuba. She also took part of the TNT (Teacher In Training) program at the Department of Physiology and Pathology. Upon her arrival to the U.S. in 1991, she worked at the Knowles Animal Clinic, a veterinary hospital specializing in trauma and surgery for the Miami area. Her colleagues called her an "animal whisperer".

Dr. Romero has dedicated herself to the enhancement of neurological awareness, integrating universal principles of spirituality and holistic health as part of her practice, as well as her own personal self-development. Maria has always been drawn to explore both scientific and mystical traditions always questioned the meaning of existence and the relationship between spiritual evolution, health and wellbeing. In the course of her exploration and teaching, Dr. Romero obtained several other certifications including the Senior NSEV Acupuncturist, Acutonics Practitioner, Laughter Yoga Leader, Master Reiki, Akashic Records Consultant and TD Facilitator.

Dr. Shiva Schiff, D.C. is the first certified NSEV Chiropractor. He integrates his clinical training in the Chinese Medicine’s Extraordinary Vessels with the restorative methods of chiropractic to help his patients achieve maximum results in their healing process. Dr. Shiva’s specialized areas of study include structural correction using gentle adjusting techniques and neuromuscular re-education.

For more than a decade he has traveled the world using his talents to connect and assist many people, especially those in the rural communities of Thailand, India, and Haiti/Dominican Republic. His contributions were inspired by his experiences as a youth where in his community he had the opportunity to work with people in facilities ranging from county homes to Hospice.

Dr Shiva’s accomplishments began at the age of 8 when he earned a black belt in TaeKwonDo. Recognizing his love and fascination of the human body and its ability to adapt and exist harmoniously with its surroundings, he became an avid surfer and certified yoga teacher and practitioner. Both activities are still present and enjoyed to this day. He now is currently practicing and living in Miami Beach, where he takes advantage of the nature infused urban experience by frequent visits to the beach, biking, and running.

After losing his brother to Cancer in 2014, he realized it was time to bring his 20 years of sound healing experience to the forefront, and, since then, has given hundreds of group sound healing events all around the country in hopes of bringing awareness to alternative health therapies and practices that are effective at addressing issues where western medicine seems to fall short.

He believes we need a balance between eastern and western medicine and that each are incomplete without the other.
